Private Essaouira tours

It is a tour run only for you and the people you book with — your own licensed driver-guide and vehicle, your own pace, no strangers and no pooled coach. We are an operator based on the Atlantic coast, not a reseller, so you deal with the same team from quote to drop-off. You choose the start point, the length and what you want to see; we build the day around it.

Our real Essaouira-based tours start at $45 per person for the half-day guided medina and Skala ramparts walk, $85 for a Sidi Kaouki surf-and-horse beach day, and from $290 for the two-day Coastal Essaouira and argan trip. Multi-day prices are per person and include a private driver-guide, vehicle, listed riads and the activities named in each itinerary. There is no deposit to receive a written quote.

If you have a morning, the half-day Medina and Skala Ramparts walk covers the UNESCO old town, the bronze cannons and the fishing port. With a full day, add Sidi Kaouki beach or a windsurf lesson in the bay. With two to four days based in a medina riad, you can fold in the argan road and climbing goats, the wild beaches at Sidi Kaouki and Diabat, and the coast north to Safi and the Oualidia oyster lagoon.

Both, depending on the trip. The medina, Skala and craft experiences are led on foot by a licensed Essaouira guide. The coastal and argan trips run with an English- and French-speaking driver-guide in a private air-conditioned vehicle, with local specialists (surf instructors, a Gnaoua maâlem, the argan cooperative women) added where the itinerary calls for them.

Yes. Every private Essaouira tour includes pickup and drop-off at your riad inside the medina or at Essaouira-Mogador airport (ESU). If you are based in Marrakech instead, we also run the classic full-day private Essaouira day trip from Marrakech, collecting from your Marrakech riad.

The medina is flat and grid-planned, so it is one of the easier Moroccan old towns to wander unguided. A private tour earns its place on the things that are harder to reach or read alone: the history behind the Skala ramparts and the film sets, the argan biosphere and which goat groves are genuine rather than staged, a certified windsurf or kitesurf lesson in the Alizés, and a Gnaoua music workshop with a real master. You also skip all the logistics.

Essaouira is a year-round coastal town. Spring and autumn are mild and clear. Summer is cooler than inland Morocco thanks to the Atlantic breeze, and the strongest, most reliable Alizé trade winds for windsurf and kitesurf run April to September. Late June brings the Gnaoua World Music Festival, when riads sell out months ahead — book early if you want to build a tour around it.
