For travellers based in Marrakech: a full-day private run to the Atlantic at Essaouira — the argan road and climbing goats, the UNESCO medina and Skala ramparts, the fishing port — and back by evening.
Most visitors to Morocco are based in Marrakech, and Essaouira is the obvious escape from the Red City's heat — a cool, salt-aired Atlantic town two and a half hours west. This private day trip exists for them. We collect you from your Marrakech riad, drive out through the argan biosphere with a stop for the famous tree-climbing goats and a women's oil cooperative, and deliver you to Essaouira by late morning.
There you have the afternoon: a guided wander through the UNESCO medina and along the Skala de la Ville ramparts, the blue fishing port and a grilled-fish lunch, free time in the souks. It is a long day on the road but an easy one, and it gives Marrakech-based travellers a real taste of the coast. If Essaouira wins you over — it usually does — we can convert it into an overnight on the spot.

Is Essaouira always windy?
Almost. Essaouira sits in the path of the Atlantic trade winds — the 'Alizés' — which is exactly why it is a world-class surf and kitesurf town and why the medina stays cool in summer. The wind is strongest in the afternoons from April to September and gentler in the morning and through autumn. The walled medina, the port and the souks are sheltered and always comfortable; we bring a windproof layer for every client.
When should I book?
For high season (Sep–Apr), the June Gnaoua festival, and any trip with a surf or kitesurf lesson, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute is usually still possible with a phone call.
How long is the drive from Marrakech to Essaouira?
About 2.5 hours each way on a good road, plus the argan stops — so it's a full day. It's an easy drive through gentle country, and the payoff is several hours on the Atlantic. If the coast wins you over, we can turn the day into an overnight there and then.
Is one day enough for Essaouira?
It's enough for a real taste — the medina, the ramparts, the port and a coastal lunch. To add the beaches at Sidi Kaouki, a surf or kitesurf lesson, or an evening of Gnaoua music, you want at least one night; ask us about our 2- and 3-day Essaouira-based stays.
