Overview
A guided half-day on a quad or buggy through the sand tracks, argan groves and coastal dunes around Essaouira, finishing on the beach with mint tea.
Behind Essaouira's beaches the land breaks up into low coastal dunes, scrubby argan forest and sandy farm tracks — terrain made for a quad or a buggy. This is a guided ride, not a free-for-all: you follow a lead rider in convoy along established tracks, through the trees where the goats graze, past Berber hamlets, and out onto the firm sand near Diabat or the river mouth.
No licence or experience is needed for the automatic quads; buggies seat two if you'd rather be driven. We brief you fully, fit helmets, and keep the pace sensible. It's dusty, breezy and genuinely fun, and it ends — as everything in Essaouira should — with a glass of mint tea looking at the Atlantic.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Quad & Buggy in the Coastal Dunes" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver, guide and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start point — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
Is Essaouira always windy?
Almost. Essaouira sits in the path of the Atlantic trade winds — the 'Alizés' — which is exactly why it is a world-class surf and kitesurf town and why the medina stays cool in summer. The wind is strongest in the afternoons from April to September and gentler in the morning and through autumn. The walled medina, the port and the souks are sheltered and always comfortable; we bring a windproof layer for every client.
When should I book?
For high season (Sep–Apr), the June Gnaoua festival, and any trip with a surf or kitesurf lesson, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute is usually still possible with a phone call.
Do I need a driving licence or experience?
For the automatic quads, no experience is required and a short practice loop comes first; a full driving licence is requested for the buggies. Riders must be 16+ to drive a quad alone; younger children can ride as passengers in a buggy with a parent.
