What to leave behind
You don't need to over-pack toiletries or fine jewellery. Essaouira's souks sell argan oil, soaps, scarves and fragrant thuya-wood pieces beautifully and cheaply, and flashy valuables only draw attention in crowds. Leave room in your bag — between the thuya workshops behind the Skala and the co-op argan oil, you will buy things.
